Barbers and Cosmetologists: Licensing, Registration, and Renewal

Online Licensing Platform

The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department has implemented an online licensing system for the Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists.

Applications for initial licensure and to renew your license must be submitted through an online portal.

Please note, if you have renewed your license using our new platform in the past, you will be required to self-register once again.

Instructions:

  • You will need to “Self Register” the first time you log on.  Your username is your email address.  Create your password.
  • Log on using your username for the new account – your email address and the password you setup.
  • You will then be able to apply for an initial license or you will see your existing license in your portal ready to renew.

Issues – If you need to reset your password you can do it at the login screen. You just need your username.

Missing License Information – if you have successfully logged onto the portal but your license needing to be renewed does not appear, there may have been more than one account associated with you.  This can be resolved by staff manually merging your account records by directly emailing the support team at rld.bchelpdesk@rld.nm.gov where dedicated staff will expedite the request and respond to you within 1-2 business days.

Please include all license types and numbers so that your accounts can be merged.

Unable to Pay Renewal Fee – if you are able to renew your license but you are unable to pay for your renewal, please go to your settings on your device and “unblock” the pop ups.  This should allow you to pay your renewal fee.

If you have additional questions regarding your renewal application, please email the Board at barber.cosmoboard@rld.nm.gov.
